March 2019 Meeting Minutes

BETHEL PARK BUSINESS ASSOCIATION MEETING

March 21, 2019

Attendees:  15 Attendees

Guest Speaker:  Liz Kanche with American HealthCare Group

  • Her company is involved with Employee Wellness Programs and Farm to Table Events
  • Liz spoke of current wellness trends and how to implement wellness programs
  • Talked about importance of educating employees about physical, mental, and financial health
  • Provided handout of PowerPoint presentation

Business Meeting:

Minutes:  Minutes from the February 2019 meeting were approved.

Membership Report:  38paid memberships, we had 40 members at this time last year.

Communications Report:  Barb asked that members please respond to her emails regarding meeting attendance and other BPBA items.

Treasurer’s Report:  Evan reported that we have a balance of $11,560.86 in the account.

Old Business:

Job Fair:  May 16th from 3p – 8p (set up 1pm) at the Bethel Park Community Center.  Evan and Connie Ruhl made a video about the Job Fair that will air on BPTV. Barb created a tentative vendor application and asked for edits. It was decided that the Chamber sponsorship section be removed and that the option of a $50 contribution to the schools be left on.

Comprehensive Plan Committee:  Meeting held on 3/14. There was a good turnout at the most recent meeting.40 attendees, and 90 on Facebook Live.  Five main topics came out of the discussion:  Connectivity, Vibrant Care, Prosperity, Resilience, and Governing. A plan is currently being worked on.

Shade Tree Commission:  Meeting was held on 3/19.  Neil Armstrong school will participate in a planting of 20 trees during Arbor Week.  Hoping to do some planting at some of the Business Park rights-of-way. 

Trash Removal:  Waste Management provided a questionnaire regarding the size of containers needed.  It will be brought to next month’s meeting.

Chamber of Commerce videos:  Still looking for companies interested in being featured in videos. 

Shredding Day:  Not much of a response of interested companies.

New Business:

The idea of offering payment to someone that can update the BPBA website and Facebook page was mentioned:  posting minutes, keeping membership list updated, listing current events, etc.

                April 6:  Shredding Event – 10am to 1pm @ Artis Senior Center Parking Lot

                May 11:  Glass Recycling Event – 9am to 2pm @ Village Square Mall
